Carl R. Yockey Sr., age 86, of Avon Lake, died Saturday morning, May 27, 2017, in Cleveland Clinic, following a brief illness.

He was born August 31, 1930, in Lorain, and graduated from Lorain High in 1948, Carl also attended Bowling Green State University.   Carl served in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the Italian-American Veteran Post 1, in Lorain.  He worked for BF Goodrich Chemical for 36 years, as a chemist, retiring in 1991.    Carl was an avid golfer, he loved going on weekly bus trips to various casinos, and he loved to travel and has visited Europe several times.

He is survived by three daughters Laurie Stefan, Parma, Lisa (Jose) Sanchez, Lorain, and Susan Maldonado, Lorain; son Carl (Judy) Yockey Jr., Frisco, TX; nine grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and brother Sylvester Yockey, Sheboygan, MI.Carl was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Carmella (Fuestere) Yockey.

Friends may call from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 2150 Broadway Ave., Lorain, 440-244-1961, where services will be held on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at 10:00 AM.  Deacon John Slatcoff will officiate.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
