Deacon Dr. Ralph J. Krupp

Lorain - Deacon Dr. Ralph J. Krupp, 83, passed away on Monday, August 21, 2017 at Arden Courts of Westlake surrounded by his loving family.

Ralph Joseph Krupp was born in Lorain, OH on December 27, 1933. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School, Class of 1951. Ralph attended Duquesne University before completing Dental School at St. Louis University, Missouri, 1957. Ralph married Bernice (nee Ryan) on June 30, 1956 and they raised seven children together. He was a member of St. Peter parish in Lorain where he served as a Deacon.  Dr. Krupp practiced dentistry in Lorain for 38 years. He retired in 1995 and was ordained to the permanent Diaconate on May 21, 1994. As a Deacon, he was actively involved in inter-city and inter-faith collaborations towards social justice. His favorite organizations included the Lorain Lions Club and the Serra Club. Ralph enjoyed bowling, golf, photography, and spending time with his family and friends. 

He is survived by his children, Mary (Martin) Pierce, Susan (Joseph) Dean, Kevin (Carolina) Krupp, Karen (Chris LoPresti) Krupp, Brenda (John) Whalen, Peter Krupp and Thomas (Robyn) Krupp; brothers, Jerry (Rita) Krupp and Fr. Albert A. Krupp; sisters, Patricia (Steve) Chozinski, Martha (Ed) Kimball and Rose (Tom) Heinrich; grandchildren, Benjamin (Alex) and Rebecca Anthony: Ryan and Matthew Dean: Vincent (Miranda) Ruta, Cecelia (Tom Hanigan), Carson Ruta: Sean and Kara Whalen: and Gabrielle and Francesca Krupp; great-grandson, Michael Joseph Ruta; and many loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years of marriage, Bernice (nee Ryan) Krupp; parents, Dr. Gerald Joseph Krupp and Blanche (Dorrel); and brother, Dr. Neal Krupp.

Family and friends will gather on Sunday, August 27, 2017 for the wake which will begin with Vespers in St. Peter Church, 3655 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain, OH 44053 at 3:00 PM. The presider will be Fr. Albert A. Krupp and Fr. William A. Thaden will be the homilist. The wake will continue until 7:00 PM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, August 28, 2017 in St. Peter Church at 11:00 AM.  Bishop Martin J. Amos will be the main celebrant and Fr. Donald P. Oleksiak will be the homilist. Interment at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 38440 Chester Road, Avon, OH 44011.
