I was stationed in Japan (1962-1964) and Dennis came along about '62/63. We lived in the same barracks at Naval Air Station Atsugi, Japan. I remember one weekend we had time off so we took a tour and climbed to the summit of Mt. Fujiyama. Great experience and good fun. We were good friends then. I saw Dennis mature quite a bit in those days. God bless him. RIP. Anchors Aweigh.

Thank you so much for the remembrance and kind words James. My dad spoke often of his time stationed in Japan and that climb to the summit of Mt. Fujiyama with you. He was so proud of that experience. -Bret

Your Dad was a good Sailor and a pleasure to be around. We pretty much stayed on base during the week, watched the movies or went to the library. Social activity off base (nearby) was for those who wanted to drink and not explore Japan. Dennis and I and a couple of others were more interested in getting to know the real Japan and everything was so cheap in those days. I’ll tell you more as I recall it.
