Lorain- Michael A. Lener, 92, passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Mercy New Life Hospice Center in Lorain, OH surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on June 9, 1924 in Meadville, PA where he met and married his wife Betty (nee Cusumano) and raised their daughter, Lucy. Mike, with his family, moved to Lorain in 1952 where he worked at GM for over 30 years. He later met and married Alvera Foil Lener on June 1977 and was blessed with Alvera’s daughter, Donna and son, Richard. Mike was a member of St. Peter’s Parish in Lorain where he and Alvera provided for those in need by cooking meals and donating gifts. He enjoyed golfing, bowling and needlework that he gifted to family, friends and the Church. Michael was devoted to his family always putting the needs of his family first before his own.

He is survived by his daughter, Lucy (Ted) Randles; granddaughter, Krysta Lynn (Sheldon II) Senek; step children, Donna (Dave) Foisy and Richard (Karyn) Foil; brother, Dominic Lener; great-grandchildren, Sheldon III and Josephine Betty Joy Senek; 7 step grandchildren; 22 step great-grandchildren; 1 great great-grandson; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 32 years, Betty Lener in 1975; and loving wife of 38 years, Alvera Foil Lener in 2015; parents, Nicola and Lucia “Lucy” (nee Toppo) Lener; and siblings, Margaret Uliano, and Philip, Vincent “Jim” and Joseph Lener.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 9:30 AM, Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at St. Peter Parish, 3655 Oberlin Ave, Lorain, OH 44053, Fr. Craig M. Hovanec, Pastor, officiating. Christian burial services will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain, OH. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Mike’s memory to P.G.
