William “Sippy” Joseph Sipkovsky, 65, born December 19, 1952 in Lorain, Ohio, passed away in his home suddenly on Thursday January 4th, 2018, in Oberlin, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph T. Sipkovsky; mother, Frances R.Sipkovsky (nee Zadakes); and sister, Sharon Gehringer.

William graduated from Lorain Admiral King in 1971 and after graduating enlisted into the United States Marine Corps. After fulfilling his enlistment, he returned home to Lorain, Ohio and worked at USS Steel until dedicating himself to the Elyria Fire Department where he retired in 2011. William was best known for his hard work ethic throughout his professional career and life. His hobbies included shooting pool, bowling, climbing trees, fishing and camping with his family. He was the ultimate do-it-yourselfer and enjoyed the challenge of taking items apart and fixing them. He valued honesty, integrity, fairness, truth, dedication and most of all love.

William is survived by Patricia J. Sipkovsky, wife of 39 years and their 4 children, Brian (Brandi) Sipkovsky, Angela (Steve) Heider, Frank (Michelle) Griffith and Christina (Dan) Dreger. He is also survived by sister, Debbie (Ken) Vincek and brother, John Sipkovsky;  9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2150 Broadway, Lorain (440) 244-1961 on Thursday, January 11, 2018 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM and at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 333 S. Lake Street, South Amherst on Friday, January 12, 2018 from 10:00 AM until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM with Fr. John C. Retar, officiating. Christian burial services will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain where military honors will be performed by Amvets Post 32.
