Dominick Orlando

Dominick Orlando, 92, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at St. John West Shore Hospital. Born on April 18, 1931, in Montenaro, Italy, Dominick's journey led him to Westlake, Ohio, where he lived a life marked by dedication, passion, and kindness.

A graduate of Lorain High School's class of 1951, Dominick's thirst for knowledge and his love for innovation propelled him to earn a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Fenn College, now Cleveland State University. His academic achievements set the foundation for a career as an Electrical Engineer for Lorain Products where he worked for more than 40 years.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Dominick had many interests and was an active participant in his local community. He was a devout member of St. Peter Parish in Lorain. His love for the outdoors was evident in his meticulous care for his garden where he took great pride in cultivating tomato and zucchini plants. Dominick's Knock Out Roses were the envy of his neighbors and he delighted in their vibrant blooms.

Dominick's passion for sports was another facet of his life. As a member of the Oberlin Golf Club for many years he relished the opportunity to play golf. His competitive spirit also shone through in the bowling league with his colleagues from Lorain Products where he enjoyed both the camaraderie and the friendly competition. Dominick spent many an afternoon engrossed in football, basketball, golf, and baseball games, and was always up to date with the latest scores and statistics.

Dominick was preceded in death by his loving parents, Nicola and Lucia (nee DiFilippo) Orlando.

He is survived by his brother, Michael Orlando and many loving cousins. The family would like to thank St. John’s Hospital staff for all their heroic efforts to help him in his time of need.

The family will receive family and friends at St. Peter Parish, 3655 Oberlin Ave, Lorain, OH 44053 on Saturday, March 9, 2024, from 11:00 AM until the time of The Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 PM, celebrated by Fr. Craig M. Hovanec. Christian burial services will immediately follow the Mass at St. Joseph Cemetery in Avon, OH. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial donations designated in Dominick’s name be made to St. Peter Parish, 3655 Oberlin Ave., Lorain, OH 44053 or to Cleveland State University.
