Elyria – David A. Valentine, 70, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 12, 2018 at his home.
David was born in Lorain, OH on September 18, 1947.
He graduated from Elyria High School, Class of 1965. In 1968, David enlisted into the U.S. Navy, serving on the U.S.S. Wasp, during Vietnam and he was honorable discharged in 1972. David worked in maintenance at U.S. Steel for 41 years, retiring from Republic Steel in 2011. He was a lifetime member of the Wasp Association, attending annual reunions. He was also a member of the Hungarian Reformed Church in Lorain, the Hungarian Council of Lorain where he served as Past-President, the Lorain County Historical Society and the American Legion Post 12 in Elyria. David was proud of his Hungarian heritage and he loved traveling with his wife, Elaine to Hungary. He enjoyed his fresh vegetables from his garden, cooking, making sausage, gathering with family and friends, and working in his yard.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine (nee:Bober) Buga-Valentine; daughter, Julie Valentine; grandson, Anthony Jalowiec; sister, Janet Lautner; brother, Louis (Nancy) Valentine; nieces, nephews and Long John, family bird.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Elizabeth (nee: Kovach) Valentine; sisters, Marilyn Szabados and Karen Swietyniowski
A Memorial Service will be held at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2150 Broadway, Lorain, OH on Monday, January 22, 2018 at 1:00 PM, officiated by Rev.
