Edward S. Prosak, 96, of Lorain, OH, passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Marymount Hospital in Garfield Heights, OH.
Edward was born in Lorain, OH, on May 27, 1921 to his parents, Grzegorz “George” and Veronica (nee: Piatek) Prosak. He was a lifelong Lorain resident and graduated from Lorain High School. Following high school, Edward enlisted in the U.S. Army as a Technician Fifth Grade serving in WWII from August 6, 1942 until his honorable discharge on February 5, 1946. Upon his return home, he married his beloved Angeline (nee: Braleski) on February 28, 1946 and they raised five loving children together. Edward was a member of Nativity B.V.M. Parish in Lorain, OH where he was a member of the Holy Name Society and awarded Holy Name Society Man of the Year. He worked at Lorain Glass where he was a glass cutter and foreman for many years before his retirement. Edward loved golfing, working around his home and spending time with family and friends.
Edward is survived by his wife of 71 years of marriage, Angeline Prosak; daughters, Nancy (Jim) Coller of Broadview Heights, OH and Noreen Paffumi of Medina, OH; sons, Alan (Donalynn) Prosak of Medina, OH and Deacon James (Cheryl) Prosak of Dandridge, TN; daughter-in-law, Kim Prosak of Elyria, OH; 18 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Grzegorz and Veronica Prosak; son, John Prosak; great-grandson, Tim Galla; sisters, Mary Pogorzelski, Angela Plato and Helen Matuszak; brothers, Joseph Prosak, Theodore Prosak, Frank Prosak and Aloysious Prosak.
The family will receive friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2150 Broadway, Lorain (440) 244-1961 on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM. Closing prayers will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 9:20 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Nativity B.V.M. Parish, 418 W. 15th Street, Lorain, OH 44052, Rev. Robert J. Glepko, Pastor officiating with Rev. Mr. James Prosak and Rev. Mr. Robert J. Dybo, assisting. Christian burial services will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain, OH, where military honors will be performed by Amvets Post 32.
