Gerald D. Hambly

Jerry Hambly, 81, of Lorain, peacefully passed on Saturday, August12, 2017, surrounded by loving family at the Cleveland Clinic Avon Hospital after suffering with lung cancer.

He was born in Lorain, Ohio, on August 1, 1936, to Ethel and James Hambly.  He attended Elyria High School with the class of 1955.  He was a self-employed contractor and realtor his entire life.  He owned Hi View Builders, completing many projects in the Lorain County area and was a realtor/developer within the Toledo vicinity. He attended services at Zion Lutheran Church in Lorain. Jerry was a generous, humorous person. He enjoyed boating and going to casinos. Over his lifetime, he was eager to offer his advice (you know what you should do...)

He is survived by Joyce Hambly (nee Hribar); children, Holly Ralich, Jill (Jim) Budzilek, Dawn (Dave) Johnson, Craig Hambly, and Tim (Kim) Hambly; 13 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren with another one on the way; sisters, Donna Hubbell, Darlene Varner, and Linda Armstrong; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, James; his daughter, Lisa Dovala; his son-in-law, Dennis Ralich; and his beloved dog, Chewey.

Visitation will be at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home, 2150 Broadway, Lorain, OH, on Saturday, August 19th, from 11:00 am until the time of funeral service at 12:30 pm.  The service will be officiated by Rev. Gary Georgi. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Jerry's memory to Neighborhood Alliance, our local social service agency, located at 453 Griswold Rd., Elyria, OH  44035.
