John Naymik Jr., of Columbus, Ohio, formerly of Lorain, Ohio, 93, passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Arlington Court Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center in Upper Arlington, Ohio.

John was born in Lorain, OH on October 22, 1923 to his loving parents, John and Susan (nee: Pjecha) Naymik. He graduated from Lorain High School, Class of 1941. In 1943, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy during WWII, serving as a Mechanist Mate in Guantanamo, Cuba and San Francisco and was honorably discharged in 1946. John married his wife, Betty J. (nee: McGee) on October 19, 1946 and together they raised their two loving sons, Thomas and Robert. He worked as a roll turner and later in management positions at U.S. Steel Corporation from 1942 until his retirement in 1983. John was a former member of St. Mary's Parish in Lorain and most recently attended St. Peter Church in Columbus. When he was younger, he enjoyed traveling throughout the United States.

He is survived by his sons, Robert J. (Susan) Naymik of Medford, OR and Thomas G. (Vicky) Naymik of Worthington, OH; brother, Michael (Judith) Naymik of Amherst, OH; grandchildren, Katie (Ryan) Cape, John (Karen) Naymik, Jesse (Melissa) Naymik, Alison (Nate) Hunter, and Danny (Dawn) Naymik; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years of marriage, Betty J. Naymik;  parents, John Sr. and Susan Naymik; brother, Howard Naymik; and sisters, Helen Radman, Mary Endrai, Ann Huber, and Vera Smith.

The family will receive friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 2150 Broadway, Lorain (440) 244-1961 on Thursday, June 29, 2017 from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 AM, Fr. Daniel O. Divis, Pastor, officiating. Christian burial services will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain, OH.  Memorial contributions may be made to the food pantry at St. Mary Church, 309 W. 7th St., Lorain, OH 44052 in John’s memory.  Online condolences and gifts of sympathy may be shared with the family using www.rsgfuneralhome.com.
