Joe was my friend and next door neighbor in San Diego for 3 years. We shared a love of coffee, oldies music and bike riding around San Diego. We saw numerous films together, which were always followed by a spirited discussion and critique.
Joe introduced me to horse racing. He kept meticulous records, and always managed to come out ahead each season. He also introduced me to Shelties. (I suggested the name "'Brooke"' for one of his dogs).
We lost contact soon after he returned to Ohio. I have some photos, and many fond memories of our friendship.
Please accept my condolences for your loss.

I was trying to find Joe on the Internet, since we have not spoken since 1973, and I learned of his
passing. We were stationed together -twice - at Tinker A.F.B. Oklahoma. Joe left Tinker went to
Turkey and I left Tinker and went to Alaska; we returned back to Tinker spending our last year of
enlistment together. We moved Off-base and shared an apartment and many good times together. I recently hosted another Air Force friend last week and we fondly spoke of our adventures with Joe. We managed to find a semi-private hockey team in Oklahoma and played
a lot of Racquet Ball. Joe joined the Tinker Tennis Team and was quite good. Very sad that I found
Joe too late to tell him about my life outside the Air Force. I am not a religious person but I will
light a candle for my old friend at Duquesne University's Chapel, which I recently retired from.

I am so sorry to hear about Joe. Victor called me on the internet to give me the sad news. I did not know he ran in marathons, however I do remember him doing a lot of running on the east side and around Longfellow Park. My thoughts and prayers are with the Veroni family. God Bless all of you. Rest In Peace Joe !!!

Dear Aunt Honey, Linda, Kathy, Mike, Tom, Terese, Tony, and Johnna,
This comes to all of you from Uncle Shad and Aunt Kay: our prayers are with you during this sad time. We wish we were able to be there with you.
I can tell you all that on Friday, last week, I took my mom to see dad and we told him about Joey being in hospice. His first thought was that he wasn't going to be able to help his sister as she goes through this. So, please know that dad sends a very long hug to Aunt Honey. After shaking his head and being teary-eyed, he and mom spent the next 45 minutes reminiscing about the good old days when "the Ohio gang" would visit in Port. Dad has the most fabulous memory of the past, and you all and Joey and Uncle Jakey are right there with clarity. Love to you all. God Bless - Cheryl
