Joyce Prunty

Joyce Ann Prunty, 67, of Eaton Twp., OH, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Layland, WV on April 12, 1951.

Joyce attended Elyria Schools and she graduated from Elyria Cosmetology Academy. She was a great hairstylist, owning and operating her own salon, “Shear Magic” in North Ridgeville for 30 years. She later worked at Golden Scissors in North Ridgeville. She married her high school sweetheart, Ernie Prunty on October 14, 1968 and they raised two sons together, Paul and David.  Joyce enjoyed being involved in her sons and grandchildren’s activities. Her love and her joy was spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her mother, Minnie Gentry of Elyria; sons, Paul (Vikki) Prunty of Carlisle Twp and David (Erica) Prunty of North Ridgeville; grandchildren, Angelique, Annaliese, PJ, David Jr., Nathen, and Ealiyah Prunty; step-grandchildren, Candice Holley and Kevin Gembka; sisters, Cheryl Gentry, Sheila (Dale) Shaffer and Kimberly Blair; brothers, David (Jennifer) Gentry and Gene (Debbie) Gentry; great-grandchildren, Aidan, Izzabelle and Jace; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, Ernie P. Prunty Jr. on October 3, 2018; father, Chester Gentry; sister, Katy Gentry; brother, Bob Gentry.

Her memory will be cherished always by those that knew her and those she helped at the end of her life with a final gift through Lifebanc.

A Memorial Service will be held at College Heights Baptist, 980 North Abbe Road, Elyria, OH, on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 1:00 PM, Pastor Darrell Deer, officiating with a gathering and luncheon to follow the services at the College Baptist.
