Mary F (Birrittieri) Poltrone

Lorain – Mary F. Poltrone, 93, passed away on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at Kingston Residence of Vermilion.

She was born in Lorain on August 29, 1924 and lived her entire life here in the city. Mary loved to travel, having visited all but two of our 50 states, her favorite being Hawaii and the Pacific North West. She witnessed the laying of the pipe line in Alaska and also enjoyed many, many cruises. Her favorite cruise was on the Mediterranean where she visited seven countries including Sicily, Venice and Rome. She was an avid reader and homemaker who loved to cook for family and friends. She entertained often with her experimental Italian dishes and her own special recipes. Mary served as a volunteer at Amherst Hospital, Salvation Army Feed the Hungry, and served for many years at St. Augustine’s holiday meals for the homeless.

She is survived by her four children and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and siblings.
