Lorain – Stanley Koziura, 71, passed away on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at the Cleveland Clinic – Avon Hospital with loving family by his side.
Stan was a lifelong Lorain resident born on September 4, 1947 to his parents, Joseph and Mary (nee Simonic) Koziura.
He graduated from Admiral King High School, Class of 1965. Drafted into the United States Army on November 2, 1966, Stan served as a combat engineer in Viet Nam. Stan was honorably discharged on November 1, 1968. Stan was a licensed electrician working at U.S. Steel and then went on to serve as the Superintendent of the Charles Berry Bascule Bridge in Lorain, OH, retiring 2008. He was a member of the Elyria Polish Club, Amherst Eagles, Laguna Yacht Club, Lorain Knights of Columbus, Croatian Club, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and AMVETS. Stan enjoyed boating, fishing, gardening, casino gaming, traveling, camping, cooking, baking and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his brothers, Joseph (Kitti), Walter (Patty), Richard, Ronald (Judy), and David (Sue) Koziura; sisters, Marilyn (Ray) Bombac, Louise Shearer, Judy (Jim) Hardesty, Joyce (Frank) Nedveski, and Diane (Mike) Swartz; fiancée, Doreen Passanisi; daughters, Christine and Kelley; and multiple nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Koziura.
The family will receive friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 2150 Broadway, Lorain (440) 244-1961 on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at 10:00 AM, Fr. John C. Retar, Pastor, officiating. Christian burial services will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain, OH, where military honors will be performed by Amherst Veterans Military Honor Guard.
