Anthony T. “Tony” Campana

Lorain - Anthony T. “Tony” Campana, 68, passed away on Saturday, July 17th, 2021 at the Cleveland Clinic Avon Hospital following a sudden illness. 

He was born on April 8, 1953, in Lorain, OH, where he was a lifetime resident. Tony graduated from Admiral King High School, Class of 1972, and he received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Bowling Green State University, Class of 1976. On September 30, 1978, he married his high school sweetheart, Carolyn (nee Stransky). He worked at First Federal Savings for over 38 years and was a very active volunteer in multiple ways in his community.

He was a member of St. Peter Parish where he loved to extend a helping hand as a Eucharistic Minister, Altar Server, member of the Finance Committee, CYO Athletics, and any St. Peter’s Church and School fundraising events. Tony was a member of St. Anthony’s Finance Committee, and he was a member and former President of Lorain County Deanery Holy Name Society. Tony enjoyed his many years with the Lorain Public Library System where he was active on the Citizens Committee of the Lorain Public Library Levy, Friends of the Lorain Public Library, and member of the Board of Trustees for Lorain Public Library. He was proud to serve as the Treasurer for Friends of Craig Snodgrass Committee for many years.

He enjoyed playing golf, softball, and basketball. Tony was a dedicated Cleveland Browns and Indians fan. He tended to his tomato and cucumber garden every summer and liked going to the casino. He deeply loved his family and gave his all for them.

Tony was an extraordinarily generous man who put all of his time and love into his faith, family, work, and organizations he cared about.

He is survived by his son, Brian (Heneper) Campana of Lorain, OH; daughters, Linda of Amherst, OH, and Donna (Nathan) Irwin of Columbus, OH; sisters, Diane (Michael) Murphy and Jean Campana; and step-brother, James (Carrie) Francis; and many loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Carolyn Campana; parents, Loredo and Josephine (nee Pentito) Campana; sister, Arleen Lesnak, and step-mother, Mary Jo Campana.

Tony’s family will receive family and friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 2150 Broadway, Lorain, OH, (440) 244-1961 on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 from 3:00 – 7:00 PM. Closing prayers will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 8:45 AM. Anthony’s Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Carolyn’s Memorial Mass on Thursday, July 22, 2021, at 9:30 AM, at St. Peter Parish, 3655 Oberlin Ave., Lorain, OH, Fr. Craig M. Hovanec, Pastor, officiating. Christian burial services will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain, OH.
