Anthony “Tony” Zichi

Anthony “Tony” Zichi, 89, of Lorain passed away at his home with his wife by his side on December 30, 2021. He was born November 19, 1932 in Lorain and was a 1951A graduate of Lorain High School.

Tony served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1956. After serving he attended the Cleveland School of Engineering. He worked in construction as a carpenter building many homes in Lorain and Cuyahoga counties including St. Peter’s School, convent, and rectory in Lorain. He retired at the age of 75.

Tony was a lifetime member of the Church of St. Peter in Lorain, the Italian American Veterans, and Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed working out at the gym, doing yardwork, and spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid fan of Cleveland sports, especially the Cleveland Browns, Ohio State, and Notre Dame.

He is survived by his high school sweetheart and beloved wife of 69 1/2 years, Anna Mae (nee Deliman); children, Michael (Kathy) Zichi of Reston, VA, Mark (Cathi) Zichi of Trinity, NC, Linda Zichi Bertrand (Mark Mroski-companion) of North Ridgeville, and Thomas (Laura) Zichi of Amherst; brother, Salvatore (Mary Kathryn) of Lutz, FL; and grandchildren, Tony, Tiffany, Sarah (Cory), Alan, Vincent, Erica (Josh), and Emily; great-grandchildren, Theodore “Teddy” and Makayla.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Caterina (nee Chelini) Zichi.

Tony’s family will receive family and friends at St. Peter Parish, 3655 Oberlin Ave. in Lorain, OH 44053, on Tuesday, January 4, 2021 from 11:30 AM until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 PM, Fr. Craig M. Hovanec, Pastor, officiating. Masks are mandatory for all services. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain with military honors by the U.S. Navy. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to be made in memory of Tony to St. Peter Parish or Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Cleveland, OH 44110.
