Bernice June Todarello (nee Tressel), 94, a resident of St. Mary of the Woods in Avon, formerly of Amherst, OH, passed away on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at Mercy New Life Hospice Center in Lorain, OH.
Bernice was born on December 5, 1923 in Lorain, OH to her loving parents, Joseph J. and Theresa E. (nee Pheffer) Tressel. She was raised in Lorain and she attended Lorain High School. Bernice married her beloved Alfred F. Todarello on September 3, 1947 and they raised three loving children together. She worked at Peoples Drug Store on Broadway in Lorain and she was a fulltime Homemaker. Bernice was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst, TOPS, Amherst Woman’s League, and Senior Citizens of Amherst. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, going on cruises and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her daughters, Jean (Fred) Farlow of Lorain and Judith (Thomas) Payne of Wyoming; siblings, Vivian Greenfield and Robert Tressel; grandchildren, Brian Farlow, Shawn Farlow, Michael Farlow, Tara Vanderpool, and Holly Crozier; 9 great-grandchildren; and three great great-granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Alfred Frank Todarello; son, Robert A. Todarello; parents, Joseph and Theresa (nee Pfeffer) Tressel; siblings, Raymond Tressel and Joan Crawford; and great-grandson, Shawn Anthony Farlow.
The family will receive friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2150 Broadway, Lorain (440) 244-1961 on Friday, September 21, 2018 from 3:00 – 7:00 PM. Closing prayers will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 10:40 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 AM, Saturday, September 22, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 St. Joseph Drive, Amherst, OH, Fr. Richard Gonser, officiating. Christian burial services will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain. The family suggests memorial contributions to be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O.
