Betty Ann Darin

Lorain-Betty Ann Darin, 91, passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2024 at Amherst Manor in Amherst, OH.

Betty was born to her loving parents, John and Anna (nee Lengel) Pasko, on June 5, 1932 in Lorain, OH. Her life was one marked by devotion to her family, her community, and the simple joys that make a life well-lived.

She was a graduate of Lorain High School, class of 1950-B. She married the love of her life, Demetrius S. Darin Jr., and had 3 children. Betty embraced the role of homemaker with grace and dedication. Her home was a welcoming haven where love and care were the foundations upon which she built her life. She was a member of St. Peter Parish and the American-Slovak Club in Lorain, OH. At the Slovak Club, she could often be found busily helping to bus tables during the much-anticipated fish fry events. Betty's commitment to service was a testament to her generous spirit.

Betty's creative passions found an outlet in ceramics and nick-nacks that brought joy to others when she would gift them to friends and family. Her love for cats was well-known; they were her constant and affectionate companions, and she shared a special bond with each one that was fortunate enough to be in her care. One of Betty's most endearing qualities was her talent for knitting. She crafted countless blankets, each stitch imbued with love, which she generously donated to the Animal Protective League. This act of kindness provided warmth and comfort to animals in need, reflecting Betty's compassionate nature.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Demetrius Darin Jr. in 1983; parents, John and Anna Pasko; 6 brothers, and 5 sisters.

Betty is survived by her sons, Demetrius “Dee” (Alexis) Darin III, and Kevin Darin; daughter, Victoria “Vicky” Medina; grandsons, Kevin Darin and Frankie Medina; great nephew, Shawn Simko; great grandson, Louie Darin; and many nieces and nephews.
