Caroline L. Post
Lorain-Caroline L. Post (nee Romes), 88, passed away on Saturday, May 13,2023 at Amherst Manor Nursing Home in Amherst, OH.
Caroline was born December 1,1934 to Bernard M. “Fat” and Helen L. (nee Mead) Romes in Lorain, OH where she resided her entire life. She attended Clearview Schools through 7th grade, then Longfellow for grades 8&9, then came back to Clearview graduating with the class of 1952. She was very active in her school, band for 3 years, head majorette her senior year, girls & mixed chorus, Neophyte 1 then Thespians 3&4, softball, an office aide, library, Booster, and the newspaper. After graduation she worked at Ohio Public Service (Ohio Edison) for 2.5 years, then moved to Athens and was the private Secretary to the Director of Home Economics at Ohio University for 1.5 years. She then moved back to Lorain to raise her family. She worked at Firelands Security Management Company for 2 years and babysat her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an active member with Clearview Boosters, a board member of Special Wish Foundation, Vermilion VFW Post 7576, and Vermilion Amvets Post 21 & 22 Auxiliaries.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Helen Romes; and brothers, Bernard M. “Ben” Romes Jr. and Ross T. “Butch” Romes.
She is survived by her sons, Michael (Deb) Post, James Post, and Lawrence (Cheryl) Post; and many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Caroline’s family will receive friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home, 2150 Broadway, Lorain, (440)244-1961 on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 from 3:00 – 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, May 18 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Alan Jenkins officiating, with a burial directly after services at Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst. Caroline (Mom) was an avid sports fan, and her wish was sports attire be worn for both days.
