Charles “Charlie” J. Amato Jr., 83, passed away at home on Friday, December 11th, 2020.
He was born on September 30th, 1937. Charles was raised in Lorain, OH by his parents, Charles and Edna (nee Pletcher) Amato and spent the entirety of his life in Lorain County. In his youth, Charlie loved bowling and won numerous trophies. He graduated from Lorain High School, Class of 1956A. He served as an electrician's mate in the Navy and worked over 20 years for US Steel in Lorain. In later years, Charlie operated a home repair business in which he provided affordable handyman services to many people in need. In his spare time, Charlie enjoyed countless hobbies including golfing, model building, gardening and riding motorcycles. He loved spending time with family and was a longtime member of St Joseph Church in Amherst.
He is survived by his daughter, Julie Amato of Tennessee and his sister, Judy O’Neil of Sheffield Lake.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles J. Amato in 1982 and Edna Lucille Amato in 1955; son, Joseph M. Amato in 2000; brother, Frank Amato in 1974; and sister Patricia (Amato) Burns in 2010.
Catholic Christian burial services will be held on Thursday, December 17th, 2020 at 1:30 PM, at Resthaven Memory Gardens, 3700 Center Rd., Avon, OH, 44011, Fr. Timothy J.
