Clifford Ray “Cliff” “Frog” Peters
Clifford Ray Peters, 92, of Lorain, passed away on Sunday, November 14th, 2021 after a short battle with cancer at Mercy New Life Hospice in Lorain, OH.
He was born on September 10, 1929 in Laurel County, KY and he moved to the Amherst/Lorain area in 1953. After a brief stint being a Texaco “Man with the Star” he retired from Sandy’s Trailer Sales in Lorain in 1992. In his retirement he continued to work to stay busy and especially loved his time White House Artesian Springs. Cliff had a zest for life and was one of the kindest, most sincere and hardworking people you would ever want to meet. He was very active in the original “Operation Open Heart” which gave back to the less fortunate children of Lorain County. He loved his classic cars and could be found any night of the week at any of the various cruise-ins in the area. He truly was one of the good ones.
He will be deeply missed by his; children, Larry (Julie) Peters of Oregon City, OR, Debbie (Ken) Dumke of Wakeman, John (Becky) Kovacs of Elyria, Tony (Sharon) Kovacs of Sheffield Lake, James (Sarah) Kovacs of Independence, MO; grandsons, Eric, Jonathan, and Kyle Peters, Kenny Jr., Jason, and Aaron Dumke, AJ, Jeffrey, and Zak Kovacs; 10 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Anglee (Herman-deceased) Smith of London, KY.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 18 years, Marilyn (nee Simpson); parents, Alfred and Lucy (nee Sherman); siblings, Henrietta Peters and Billie Jean Jones (Bill); brothers, Ira and Gerald Peters. The family would like to sincerely thank his neighbor Jean for her care and support along with Mercy New Life Hospice for their dedication and caregiving.
The family will receive friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2150 Broadway, Lorain (440) 244-1961 on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 from 4:00 PM until the time of funeral services at 7:00 PM.
