Dale Goforth Obituary

Dale Richard Goforth, 66, of Sheffield Village, OH, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, June 17, 2021.

Dale was born at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Lorain, OH on November 28, 1954 to his loving parents, Robert G. and Yolanda (nee Szucs) Goforth.

Dale graduated from Brookside H.S. in 1973. At the age of 18 years old, Dale began his career working at U.S. Steel with his father, “Bob.” Having been eager to take on new responsibilities, he received several promotions and worked a variety of jobs within the mill (crane operator, shipping coordinator, pipe inspector, team leader, and in the administrative offices). He married his loving wife, Wreatha May (nee VanCuran), on March 20, 1982. He adopted Wreatha’s four children and raised them as his own. He returned to the classroom to further his education and knowledge, while still employed at U.S. Steel. He obtained his Associate Degree from Ohio Business College in 2018, with perfect attendance and high honors (4.13 GPA).

Dale was a die-hard Cleveland Indians fanatic and was known for having an immaculately landscaped yard. If you couldn’t find Dale, chances are he was out back on his lawn tractor, with his headphones on and a beer in his hand. He enjoyed listening to music, and he was an amateur DJ in his younger years. Prior to and during his retirement, Dale enjoyed live streaming his own podcast where he played his favorite songs and shared his love and knowledge of music with his listeners. He even brought in “guest DJs” from the neighborhood. Dale loved spending time with his family, and he cherished his time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Above all, Dale was the kind of guy that loved making people happy and would do anything for his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Wreatha May (nee VanCuran); children, Rebecca (John) Prusak, Robert “Jim” Goforth, Rachel Pinner and Matthew (Rachel) Goforth; sister, Kathy (Randy) Lingenfelter; brother, Robert “Bob” (Karen) Goforth; 8 grandchildren, Mark, Isaiah, Makayla, John, Lauren, Livia, Luke and Charlie; 2 great-grandchildren, Camila and Chloe; and loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert G. and Yolanda (nee Szucs) Goforth.

The family will receive family and friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 2150 Broadway, Lorain, OH, (440) 244-1961 on Friday, June 25, 2021 from 5:00 PM until the time of funeral services at 7:00 PM, Pastor Alex VanCuran, officiating.
