David W. Schumaker

David W. Schumaker, 62, of Lorain, passed away on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family and friends.

He was born on April 18, 1959 in Lorain, OH.

David graduated from Lorain High School, Class of 1979. Following High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving honorably from 1979 – 1983. David worked for SBS Transit/First Student as a bus mechanic for 38 years, retiring in 2019. He was a past member of the American Legion and a Life Member of the VFW Post 451. He enjoyed off-roading, mudding and spending time with his grandchildren. 

Survivors include his companion of 21 years, Gail St. Clair of Lorain; children, Don (Tiffany) Twyman of Las Vegas, Stacy (Josh Henderson) St. Clair of Lorain, April Schill of Newbury, Stephanie (Steve) Keller of Vermilion, Jennifer (Steve Jackson) St. Clair of Lorain and Julie St. Clair of Lorain; 14 grandchildren; sisters, Sue (Mark) Boyle and Nancy (Paul) Wise; and life-long friend, Terry Hardesty.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Laura (nee Moody) Schumaker; grandson, Jayden Davidson in 2007; and his uncle, Ted (Virgina) Moody.  

The family will receive friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home, 2150 Broadway, Lorain, OH 44052, on Sunday, November 14, 2021 from 2 - 6 PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday, November 15, 2021 at 10:00 AM, Pastor Chuck Behrens, officiating. Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst, OH with honors by AMVETS Post 32. Memorial donations may be made in David’s loving memory to the Lorain Senior Center, 3361 Garfield Blvd, Lorain, OH 44052.
