Dawn Conrad Obituary

Dawn Rochelle Smith Dopp Conrad, 67, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 20, 2020. She was surrounded by her loving family in the Amherst home she shared with her husband. They had a special bond that even death will not separate.

Dawn was born February 10, 1953, as an identical twin, in Champaign, Illinois to Doris and Bruce Dopp. She married Wesley Conrad on November 24, 1973 in Avon Lake, Ohio. They welcomed their daughter, Virtue Renee, on June 7, 1974. Dawn graduated from LCCC as a registered nurse. She spent the majority of her 25-year career working at Lorain Community Hospital and The Surgery Center.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, camping, shopping, and decorating her home. She loved traveling with her husband, having conversations and a glass of wine with her daughter, and attending her granddaughters’ horse shows. Dawn loved making frequent trips to Amish Country with her twin sister, Deborrah. She took her role as “cruise director” seriously when her sister, Kimberly would come to visit. She enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews and their families. She enjoyed celebrating life’s special occasions and holidays, incorporating family traditions, and making new ones. She was happiest when surrounded by her loved ones. Dawnie loved to laugh. She was a kind, welcoming, and generous woman.

She is survived by her husband and soulmate, Wesley J. Conrad, her loving daughter and son-in-law, Virtue and Matthew Gidich, beloved granddaughters Maddison Dawn Gidich and Makenzie Olivia Gidich, all residents of Amherst, Ohio, along with twin sister Deborrah (John) Shirley of Elyria, Ohio, and sister Kimberly (Kevin) Kleineweber of Phoenix, AZ, and brothers Patrick (Zoe) Dopp of Springfield, MO, Joe Dopp of Long Beach, WA; Bryan Dopp of Seattle, WA, and Rocky (Erin) Dopp of Gresham, OR. She had numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Doris Smith Bernstine; father, Bruce Dopp; and brother, Bruce Dopp.
