Dolores Marie Tompkins

Dolores Marie (nee DiFrancesco) Tompkins, 88, passed away Sunday, September, 17, 2023 at her home in Westerville, Ohio.

Dolores was born to her loving parents, Erminio and Rachel (nee Paoloemilio ) DiFrancesco, August 11, 1935 in Lorain, Ohio.

She was a graduate of Lorain High School, class of 1953. Dolores married the love of her life, Walter C. Tompkins, October 5, 1957. She was a member of St. Agnes Church in Elyria since 1960 and was very active in the Altar and Rosary Society. She volunteered for many of the paprikash and cabbage roll dinners. Dolores worked outside the home beginning in 1976 in the finance and accounting field until she retired at the age of 62. Then she worked for her brother, DiFran the door man, assisting in the office. She lived in Elyria from 1961 until 2016 when she moved to Westerville, Ohio where she spent the remainder of her life. Dolores loved watching her favorite baseball team, the Cleveland Indians and playing slot machines in Cleveland and Columbus with family and friends.  She also enjoyed playing games and cards with her grandchildren and cooking for her family.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 46 years, Walter Tompkins in 2003; their son, Ray Anthony Tompkins in 2004; her parents, Erminio and Rachel DiFrancesco; siblings, in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

Dolores is survived by her children, Judith Tompkins and (Tod Dotter) of Westerville, Walter C. Tompkins Jr. of Blacklick, Gary (Rosemary) Tompkins of Lorain, Doug Tompkins and (Julie Taylor) of Gahanna, and Jennifer (Gregory) Perie of Hilliard; eighteen grandchildren and step-grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

Dolores' family will receive family and friends at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 611 Lake Ave, Elyria, OH 44035, Friday, September 22, 2023, from 9 a.m. until The Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. The burial will be held directly after mass at St. Mary's Cemetery, Elyria, Reverend Charles J.
