Lorain - Edmond G. Kolycheck Sr., 92, passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2023 at The AbbeWood in Elyria, OH.
He was born on June 14, 1931, in Independence, PA, to his loving parents, Edmund and Virginia (nee Flori) Kolycheck. After graduating from Brownsville High School in Pennsylvania, Class of 1949, he joined the Marine Corps and served his country honorably in the Korean War. Edmond married the love of his life, Eleanor Rose (nee Gargano) on September 6, 1954 and together they raised three children. He pursued his passion for science and engineering at Case Western Reserve, where he earned his Master’s Degree. His dedication to his studies and his natural talent for problem-solving set him on a path to a successful career as a Chemical Engineer. Edmond joined BF Goodrich in 1959 and he served the company with distinction until his retirement in 1994. He was a member of St. Peter Parish in Lorain, loved watching the Pittsburg Steelers, and was an avid gardener.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edmund and Virginia Kolycheck; sister, Marianne Kara; and beloved dog, Coco.
Edmond is survived by his wife of 69 years, Eleanor Rose Kolycheck; children, Edmond G. (Julie) Kolycheck Jr., Leslie (Craig) Pavlich and Patricia (Ric) Cornwell; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home, 2150 Broadway, Lorain, OH on Thursday, October 5, 2023 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM. Closing prayers will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 10:20 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 6, 2023 at St. Peter Parish, 3655 Oberlin Ave, Lorain, OH 44053, Fr., Robert Kraig, officiating. Christian burial services will follow the Mass at Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst, OH with military honors. Memorial donations may be made in Edmond’s memory to the Friendship Animal Protective League, 8303 Murray Ridge Rd, Elyria, OH 44035.
