Fernando Bonaminio (1929-2022)

Lorain – Fernando Bonaminio, 93, of Lorain passed away on September 21, 2022 after a short illness. He was born on March 23, 1929 in Montenero, Val Cocchiara, Italy and had lived in Lorain since 1956.

He was a member of St. Peter Parish in Lorain and the Montenero Society.  He worked for the Street Department and then the Water Works Department for the City of Lorain until his retirement in 1994. He enjoyed hunting, soccer, bocci, dancing and treasured the time spent with his family.

He is survived by his son, Berardino (Susan) Bonaminio of Amherst; daughters, Giulia Bonaminio (Warren Nothnick) of Overland Park, Kansas and Lori Bonaminio (Marco Gonnella) of Montenero, Val Cocchiara, Italy; nine grandchildren, Nicholas Bonaminio and Gina Bonaminio Norris, Christopher and Michael Nothnick, and Matteo, Mark, Virginia, Francesca and Gabriella Gonnella; and four great-grandchildren, Berardino and Vincenzo Bonaminio, Lillian Norris, and Nikolo Trilli.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Iole Bonaminio (nee Zero) in January 2015; his grandson, Berardino Bonaminio in April 2013; and his parents, Berardino and Giulia Bonaminio (nee Satelli).

Mr. Bonaminio’s family will receive family and friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home, 2150 Broadway, Lorain, OH on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 from 3:00 – 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at 11:00 AM in the funeral home followed by burial in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain, OH, Fr. Craig M. Hovanec, Pastor, officiating.
