Helen C. Tisler
Lorain – Helen C. Tisler (nee Lassen), 100, passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at Anchor Lodge Nursing Home in Lorain, OH.
She was born on April 9, 1920 in Lorain, OH to her loving parents, Alfred M. and Effie (nee McCain) Lassen.
Helen was a member of Church of Jesus Christ Restored Gospel of Lorain where she taught Sunday School and Ladies Bible Circle, she also sang, and played the organ and piano. She loved her Church. Helen worked in the 1960’s at Town and Country in sales and later she owned a 2nd hand shop on Broadway in Lorain, OH. She then worked as an office manager for Realtor Martha Dean and Realtor Joseph Zehoric while selling real estate herself. Helen was instrumental in the Helen Steiner Rice friends association and also recognized by the International Writers Association in 2015. She enjoyed reading Christian and non-fiction books, spending time outdoors. Helen was a self-taught piano and organ player and she loved playing and listening to music and also was a fluent poem writer.
She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Chapman, Cheryl Espenschied, Marilyn Lang and Eugenia (Larry) Tedford; sister, Betty Jean Lassen; brother, Myron (Peggy) Lassen; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred M. and Effie Lassen; husband of 60 years of marriage, Joseph J. Tisler Jr; son, Joseph J. “Jerry” Tisler Jr.; great-grandson, David DeCredico Jr.; 2nd husband, Ernest Alessio; and many loving siblings.
The family will receive friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 2150 Broadway, Lorain (440) 244-1961 on Monday, December 14, 2020 from 10 AM until the time of the funeral services at 11:00 AM, Rev. Richard Huff, officiating . Christian burial services will be held at Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Twp., OH. Memorial donations may be made in Helen’s memory to Church of Jesus Christ Restored Gospel of Lorain.
