Irene Ursula Motto
Sheffield Village - Irene U. (nee Bratun) Motto, 69, passed away Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at her home with her loving family by her side.
Irene was born October 21, 1952 in Kircaldy, Scotland to her parents, Stanislaw and Anastazia (nee Bud-Husaim) Bratun. She lived in Scotland until 1957 when she moved to Lorain, OH where she resided until 2007, then moving to Sheffield Village until the time of her passing. She was a graduate of Southview High School, Class of 1971. Irene married the love of her life, Anthony J. Motto Jr., on October 21, 1972. She had two children and was a dedicated mother and housewife. She was involved in Lorain schools PTO throughout the 1980s. Irene was an avid crafter who enjoyed painting, making hats, dollhouses, and jewelry. She was very active in the local craft bazaars. She also enjoyed playing video games and repairing computers. She went on to receive her Associates degree in Computer Maintenance & Networking from LCCC in 2011. Then she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Technical Education in 2014 from the University of Akron. Irene began college for the first time in her fifties, with an interest in learning about computers. She spent the next decade taking classes and growing her skills, and eventually began teaching those same computer classes. Often one of the few women in the computer lab, she was an inspiration to her students and her family, proving that it is never too late to learn. Irene was a course instructor for LCCC from 2007 until 2017. Irene was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Parish in Lorain, OH where she also taught PSR classes for several years.
She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Anthony J. Motto Jr. of Lorain; daughters, Andrea (Brian) Bailey of Hamden, Connecticut and Katie (Marc) Boehm of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; sisters, Dana Klik and Joanna (John) Findley; brothers, Roman (Janet) Bratun of South Carolina, Christopher Bratun, and Stanley Bratun both of Lorain; and several loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents, Anastazia (2014) and Stanislaw (1996) Bratun; and brother, Michael Bratun (1986).
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Parish, 2143 Homewood Dr, Lorain, OH. Facial masks/coverings are mandatory during funeral Mass. Private committal services will be held at a later date at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain, OH. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Irene’s memory to St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Endowment, 2143 Homewood Dr., Lorain, OH 44055 or to Hospice of the Western Reserve, PO Box 72101 Cleveland, OH 44192.
