Jesus Maldonado Obituary

Jesus Maldonado

Lorain – Jesus Maldonado Sr., 85, passed away on Monday, July 19, 2021 at his home, while
surrounded by his family.

He was born on April 5, 1936, in Utuado, Puerto Rico. As a young man, Jesus (who was lovingly
called Chuito by his friends and family or Jaime by his coworkers) started out working in
agriculture. He moved from Puerto Rico to PA, with the hopes and dreams of discovering great
opportunities. He didn’t stay for long and returned to Puerto Rico, where he met the love of his
life, Nydia E.(nee Rodriguez). They were married in 1957 and shortly after moved to the United
States. They first lived in New Jersey for a short time, before finally resettling in Lorain, OH,
where they began their family. Jesus found great work and opportunity at U.S. Steel, where he
worked as a grinder operator, until he retired in 1998. Whether at work or at home, Jesus was
always known to be an extremely hard worker. When he was not at the mill, Jesus could be
found at his home, where he enjoyed working in the yard (where he meticulously cared for each
flower, tree, and blade of grass) and tending to his tomatoes, beans, and cilantro in his garden.
He was a devout Cleveland Indians fan and enjoyed watching games, among many other
activities, with his beloved family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Salvador and Juana (nee Vazquez) Maldonado; sons,
Jesus “Junior” and Mark A. Maldonado Sr.; and great-grandson, Baby Isaiah Maldonado Jr.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Nydia E. Maldonado; daughters, Bruni Maldonado and
Mickey (Leo) Badillo; brother, Miguel A. Maldonado; grandchildren, Jeanette, Nicolas III
(Jasminda), Julia (Ediberto), Mark Jr. (Kerestina), Isaiah Sr. (Natalia), Amanda, and Alyssa; six
great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews.
