Kenneth Crivel Obituary

Kenneth H. Crivel, 85, of Lorain Ohio, passed away at Avon Oaks Caring Community, with his wife at his side, on December 27, 2021. Ken married his loving wife Karin (Pierce) Crivel on August 31, 1968.

Ken was born in Cleveland, Ohio to parents Kenneth Sr. and Helena (Higgins) Crivel, on August 31, 1936. He graduated from St. Edwards High School in 1955 with Honors, and continued his education at John Carroll University.  He joined the Marines in 1959, and was honorably discharged in 1965.

Ken enjoyed attending many meetings of the Lorain Senior Fellowship Club. He also held memberships in the Lorain Historical Society, Lake Erie Moose Lodge 552, and the Lorain American Legion Post 30. Following his retirement, he was able to pursue his interest in antiquing and refinishing furniture.  He had a kind heart which was shown through his volunteering for Meals on Wheels and making sure not a duck, bird or animal in the neighborhood went hungry. Ken enjoyed many vacations with Karin, and with family and friends to Mexico, the Caribbean and destinations in the U.S. and Europe.

He is survived by his loving wife Karin of 53 years, by his brother, Jack (Debra); nieces Merrill Ryan, Lisa Clark and Julie Pierce;  nephews Kenneth and James Crivel and William Pierce; brother-in-law Richard McLendon and sister-in-law Christine (Phil) Martin; and longtime family friend Janet Pavlich.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Linda McLendon, and brother-in-law Norman Pierce.  Also, by his dog Patience, with whom he shared a special bond.

The family wishes to thank the entire Avon Oaks nursing home staff for their kindness and care.   Arrangements were made by Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 2150 Broadway, Lorain, Ohio.  440-244-1961. Services are private at this time.  Memorial donations may be made in Ken’s name to the Oasis Animal Shelter, 44881 US-20, Oberlin Ohio 44074 or the charity of your choice. Online condolences may be shared with the family using www.rsgfuneralhome.com.
