Lois Treboniak, 72, passed away Saturday, December 10, 2022 at Avon Cleveland Clinic Hospital following a lengthy illness. She was born in Lorain and currently living in Avon, Ohio.
Lois was a person of many talents, was always eager to have new experiences, loved being a teacher and most of all, LOVED her family and friends. If you ever needed anything, Lois was the first to listen, help, guide, and provide whatever she could for you. She taught in Lorain City Schools for 35 years, starting out at Washington Elementary as a 4th grade teacher. Lois had many awards and accomplishments during her career. She was extremely proud of participating in the NASA Teacher in Space Project, being a rep for the LEA, having her students in Science Olympiad, taking students to the Memorial Golf Tournament, doing group projects with the Metro Parks, such as building bird houses for bluebirds, and numerous reading awards. After retiring, Lois worked with Ashland University, through LCCC, as a student teacher Advisor.
You could always find her doing needlepoint, bowling, golfing, or traveling. But her two favorite things were going to the casinos and spending time with family. Her nieces and nephews were her everything.
Lois was preceded in death by her father, Aloysius "Ollie"; mother, Mary Ann "Mae"; and brother-in-law, R. Michael Burdue.
She is survived by her brother, Larry (Karen); sisters, Mary Ann Kretovics, Joyce (Rick) Jones, and Cathy Hollohazy; Aunt Tess Wrzesinski, Aunt Patty Downie, 8 nieces and nephews, and 9 great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home, 2150 Broadway in Lorain, Ohio on Thursday, December 15th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Private Mass and Burial will take place at a later date. Donations may be made to Friendship APL, 8303 Murray Ridge Rd., Elyria, OH 44035, or another charity of your choosing.
