Amherst - Marcella O’Connor (nee Czarney), 84, died peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on November 29, 2020.

She graduated in 1954 from Lorain High School.  Marcy married in 1955 and then moved to Pleasanton, CA where her husband was serving with the U.S. Airforce.  While there, she worked as a clerk and typist for the US government.  After moving back to Lorain, and after her children were in school, she began her career in retail, working at Fisher Foods / Rini Rego / Giant Eagle where she worked for 27 years, retiring as head cashier in 1992.

She was a lifetime member of Nativity BVM Parish in Lorain.  Marcy was active in the PTA and volunteered at the school.  She was also a member of the Altar Rosary Society and member of the United Polish Club Ladies Auxiliary in Elyria.   She volunteered at the St. Joseph Hospital gift shop and crocheted many newborn hats for their nursery.

Marcy enjoyed music of many styles. She played piano and organ and also tackled new technology. Marcy enjoyed knitting, cooking, sewing, crafts, travel, and teaching her children and grandchildren about Polish traditions.  She collected over a 100 red shoe Christmas ornaments as a reminder to her family that, “there’s no place like home”.
