Marie Seronka Obituary

Marie Seronka

Lorain- Marie (nee:Drzymala) Seronka, 92, passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 under the care of Mercy New Life Hospice after a brief illness.

She was born to her loving parents, Martin and Lottie (nee Kolenda) Drzymala, on September 8, 1931 in New Kensington, PA. Marie graduated from Arnold High School in 1949 and married Joseph Seronka in 1955. They moved from New Kensington, PA to Lorain, OH to raise their family. She was the proud mother of eight children, who loved her dearly and worshipped her. She worked many jobs throughout her life and retired from Golden Acres Nursing Home in 1993, after working 10 years as a nurse's aide. She had many treasured friends and was blessed to have travel experiences with them to Hawaii, cruises, and bus trips to multiple locations. She was a member of St. Mary Parish, Lorain, volunteered at the Food Pantry and was a member of the Women's Guild. The friendships she had through church meant the world to her and made her feel very special. She loved to do crossword puzzles, sewing projects, and had a creative mind.

During COVID, she did her part to help by making masks. Marie was blessed to spend 13 years wintering in Vero Beach, FL with her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Steve Sanders. She got to experience a NASCAR Race, WWE Wrestling Match, and various other adventures with her son, Jim, daughter-in-law Jo Anna, and grandson Joel. She loved spending time with her many grandchildren and great grandchildren, who she truly loved. She always made a point to remember everyone's birthday and anniversary without fail.

Marie lived with her son David, who took great care of her after her husband's passing in 1991. As her health declined, she was lovingly cared for by her daughters Paula Pataky and Pam Karhusz. She had a full and meaningful life and will be dearly missed by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her eight children, Tom (Debi) Seronka, Paula (Joe) Pataky, David Seronka, Karen (Steve) Sanders, Nancy (Dave) Meyer, Lorie (Ed) Miller, Pam (Dave) Karhusz, and Jim (Jo Anna) Seronka; sister-in-law, Jackie Drzymala; grandchildren, Chad (Linda) Seronka, Sarah (Brad) Gerard, Justin (Angela) Lukachko, Alyssa (Ronnie) Coggins, Joseph Pataky, Dayle (Jake) Sproul, David "Bud" Meyer, Jacob Meyer, Joshua Meyer, Brittany Miller, Brianne Miller, Anthony (Megan) Karhusz, Kyle (Melissa) Karhusz and Joel Seronka; and 15 great grandchildren and one more on the way.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Joseph Seronka; parents, Martin and Lottie Drzymala; sister, Helen (Thorton) Fogle and brother, Richard Drzymala.
