Marietta Mildred Giardini
Lorain-Marietta M. Giardini (nee DiFrancesco), 95, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 with loving family by her side.
Marietta was born on March 21, 1928 to her loving parents, Samuel and Elizabeth (nee Sciulli) DiFrancesco in Lorain, OH where she resided her entire life. She graduated from Lorain High School, Class of 1945A. Marietta married the love of her life, Bernard “Bernie” Giardini on October 22, 1949. She worked as an operator at Lorain Telephone Company and later she worked at St. Joseph Hospital as a switchboard operator. Marietta was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Lorain and also enjoyed walking, cooking and baking. She made a fantastic lasagna and the best nut roll and lekvar ever.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Bernard L. Giardini; parents, Sam and Elizabeth DiFrancesco; brother, Domenic DiFrancesco; sister, Lenora Martinelli; and granddaughter, Paige.
She is survived by her son, Anthony Giardini; daughters, Paulette Smith, Sandra Giardini, and Jean Nazario; sisters, Ann Dworznik, Rita DiFrancesco and Edith Foster; 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Giardini’s family will receive friends on Sunday, July 30, 2023 from 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home, 2150 Broadway, Lorain, (440) 244-1961. Closing prayers will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 10:20 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 31, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. Peter Parish, 3655 Oberlin Ave., Lorain, OH, Fr. Craig M. Hovanec, Pastor, officiating. Christian burial services at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. Memorial donations be made in Marietta’s memory to the Friendship APL, 8303 Murray Ridge Rd, Elyria, OH 44035.
