Mary Elisa Jacoby (nee: D’Orazio), 92, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, June 10, 2022 at her home in Amherst, OH.

She was born November 28, 1929 in Lorain, Ohio. Mary graduated from Lorain High School, Class of 1948-B. She was a member of St. Peter Parish in Lorain, Nordson Oldtimers Club and Lorain County Democratic Womens Party. Mary was a proud and good wife, homemaker, mother of six, wife of Lorain County Commissioner, Blue Jacket Driver, and an excellent Italian cook. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren with all of her heart and is very proud of all of them. She was the epitome of fashion and kindness on the campaign trail. Her warm smile and her keen insight filled the room with joy and charm.

Mary is survived by her six loving children, John ”Jack” Jacoby of San Diego, CA, Herbert J. (Cindy) Jacoby Jr of Maui, Hawaii, Jean Jacoby of Tustin, CA, Joan Bonina of Orange, CA, Sue Ellen (David) Purdum of Friendswood, TX, and James (Janet) Jacoby of Lorain, OH; sister-in-law, Grace; 18 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.

Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Herbert J. Jacoby in 2012; parents, Vincent and Erlinda (nee Moretti) D’Orazio; sister, Alice (Gary) Mead; brothers, Louis, August “Augie” (Mary) and Joseph (Mary) D’Orazio; son-in-law, Vlada in 2019.

The family will receive friends at St. Peter Parish on Saturday, June 18, 2022 from 11:00 AM until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 PM. Christian burial services will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain. Memorial donations may be made in Mary’s loving memory to St. Peter Parish, 3655 Oberlin Ave., Lorain, OH 44053.
