Mary Ann (Spontik) Slevin

Lorain- Mary Ann Slevin (nee Spontik), 80, passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at her home with her loving family by her side.

She was born in Richmond, MI to her loving parents, John and Dolores E. (nee Gargasz) Spontik, on August 2, 1942. She was a graduate of Lorain High School, Class of 1959. She married the love of her life, James “Jim” Slevin, on November 9, 1963. She enjoyed gardening especially tending to her flowers, she was an excellent cook, and loved traveling with Jim and collecting various memorabilia from their trips. Mary Ann was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Church where she was a past member of Altar and Rosary Society and the 250 club. She loved her church and enjoyed socializing with fellow parishioners. She was also part of a knitting group.

She is survived by her children, Maureen (Terry) Saunders and Bob (Lori) Slevin; siblings, Carolyn (Jack) Thiery, Janice (Gary) Herzburn, David (Sheila) Spontik, and Arlene Sciarappa; grandchildren, Nick, Kayla, Jacob, and Kiley; and many loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of over 50 years, James “Jim” Slevin, and her parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 41295 N. Ridge Rd., Elyria, OH, Fr. Donald Dunson, officiating and Deacon John Slatcoff, retired, assisting (meet at Church). Private Christian entombment services will be held at a later time at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Mary Ann's name to St. Vincent de Paul Church, Elyria, OH.
