Melvin D. Eden

Melvin D. Eden, 70, of Elyria Township, passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at University Hospitals of Elyria.

He was born to his father, Obert and loving mother, Mary Eden on June 24, 1952 in Elyria, OH. Mel graduated from Elyria High School class of 1969. He married the love of his life, Karen (nee Wozniak) Eden on October 20, 1973. Melvin worked in maintenance and as a Mill Wright for U.S. Steel for over 40 years. He was a member of Lake Milton Gun Club and the NRA. Mel enjoyed woodworking, shooting his guns, flea markets, hunting, fishing, being outdoors, reading books, watching old reruns and taking care of his animals. He was always there for friends and family and loved to help however he could.

He is survived by his daughters, Christine (Scott) Doughty and Mary (Cory) Eden; mother-in-law, Ethel M. Wozniak; grandchildren, Ben, Adriana, Nick, and Faith; step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Karen  Eden; mother, Mary V. Eden; father, Obert Eden; daughter, Melissa “Missy” Beere; and brother, Nathan Eden.

Melvin’s family will receive family and friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home, 2150 Broadway, Lorain, OH on Sunday, October 16, 2022 from 2:00 – 5:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 17, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home followed by burial at Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain, OH, son-in-law, Cory Eden, officiating.
