Elyria-Onyx Samire Cardona, 3 months old, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 2, 2023.

Onyx was born on April 24, 2023 to his mother, Destiny Alizae Velez, in Lorain, OH. He was such a happy, smiley baby who was very observant. Onyx was very loving and enjoyed cuddling and swimming. He gave unconditional love and instant happiness to all who met him and he was truly loved and spoiled by his family.

He was preceded in death by his great-grandpa, Edwin Cardona.

He is survived by his mother, Destiny Velez; grandparents, Natalia Cardona and Detron Brooks; great-grandmother, Lisa Garcia; uncle, Davien Brooks; aunts, Alexis Wells, Daisy Garcia, and Yolanda Cardona; and many loving family and friends.

Onyx’s family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at 11:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 PM at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2150 Broadway, Lorain (440) 244-1961. Interment will be held directly after at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain. Donations may be made to the family at the funeral home.
