Robert Berry Obituary

Robert Wade Berry, known affectionately as “Poppy” to his friends and family, passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2024, in Lorain, Ohio. Born on March 18, 1935, in Replete, West Virginia, Bob's journey through life was marked by dedication, love, and a spirited sense of adventure.

Bob's early years in the rolling hills of West Virginia instilled in him a deep appreciation for the outdoors. This love for nature translated into a lifelong passion for hunting and fishing; pursuits that brought him peace and joy throughout his life. His warm, engaging personality also drew him to the vibrant community at local flea markets, where he was a familiar and welcome presence.

After bravely serving in the United States Army, Bob transitioned to civilian life with the same sense of duty and work ethic. He found his professional calling at the steel mill, where he was not only a dedicated worker but also a friend and mentor to many.

Beyond his professional life, Bob's heart belonged to his beloved wife, Frances Berry. The two were married on January 20, 1961, a testament to the enduring nature of true love. Their partnership was a source of strength and happiness for Bob, and their shared moments became the cherished memories that would define a beautiful chapter in his life.

Bob's passing leaves a void in the lives of those who knew him, yet his spirit remains a guiding light. He lived a life that exemplified the values of honor, commitment, and joy. His story is not one of sorrow, but a celebration of a life well-lived and a man well-loved.

As we bid farewell to Robert Wade Berry, we hold fast to the memories and the lessons he imparted. His legacy is one of love, service, and the simple pleasures that make life worth living. Bob will be dearly missed, but his influence will continue to be felt by all who had the fortune to cross paths with him.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Berry; daughter, Frances “Chris” Flynn; grandson, Dusty R. Flynn; father and mother, Charles and Gertie Berry; and siblings, Donald, Trudy,Erma, Dorothy, Bill, Dormae, and Dana.

He is survived by his granddaughter, Misty Schrader; great-grandsons, Takoda Knarr and Ethan McIe; brother, Edward Berry; and sister, Mildred Clevenger.
