Vermilion-Robert “Bob” Zimmerman, 87, passed away on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at Mercy New Life Hospice in Lorain, Ohio.

Robert was born on December 21, 1934 to his loving parents, Fred and Rose (nee Nowicki) Zimmerman in Lorain, OH. He remained a resident of Lorain for 62 years, later moving to Vermilion where he resided for the remainder of his life. He married the love of his life, Dolores J. (nee Alvarado) Zimmerman, on May 2, 1953. He was a foreman for the Street Department with the City of Lorain for 30 years. Bob was a member of the Church at Lorain Gospel Mission where he volunteered his time as the church janitor.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Rose Zimmerman; brothers, Theodore and Stanley Bylicki; sisters, Florence Maiden, Margaret Wasela, and Irene Honoshofsky.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Dolores Zimmerman, of Vermilion, OH; sons, David A. (Elizabeth), of Houston, TX, Robert T. (Beverly), of Lorain, OH, and Gary L. (Terry) Zimmerman, of Lorain, OH; 11 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

The family will receive family and friends at Reidy-Scanlan-GiovannazzoFuneral Home & Cremation Services, 2150 Broadway, Lorain, OH on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at 3:00 PM until the time of the funeral service at 5:00 PM, Pastor Randy Sias, officiating.
