Suzanne Marie Hoenig
Avon – Suzanne Marie Hoenig, (nee LaFleur) passed away on March 19, 2022 at Avon Place Nursing Home after a long illness.
Suzanne was born on August 17, 1940 in Lorain, Ohio to Gertrude E. and Virgil A. LaFleur. She attended St. Anthony grade school and graduated from St. Mary’s High School. She received her nursing diploma from St. Vincent Charity Hospital and was a registered nurse at St. Joseph and Mercy hospitals until her retirement in 2005. She married Emmerich J. Hoenig in 1962. They lived for many years in Sheffield Lake, Ohio. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, crafts and her children.
She is survived by her five children, ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren, her sister, Mary Szczepanik and brothers, Pete and Paul LaFleur, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, E. James Hoenig, her parents, Gertrude and Virgil LaFleur; her brothers, David and Bill LaFleur; and daughter-in-law Emily Thomas Hoenig.
The family will receive friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 2150 Broadway, Lorain, Ohio, on Monday, July 25, 2022 from 10:30 am until then time of the funeral service at 11:30 am, Fr. Craig Hovanec, Pastor, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to International Rescue Committee (help.rescue.org) to benefit refugees fleeing Ukraine.
