Lorain - Sylvia B. Sestili, 96, passed away on Friday, September 16, 2022 at Anchor Lodge Nursing Home in Lorain, OH with her loving family by her side.

Sylvia was born to her loving parents, Dominic and Mary (nee Mattei) Sestili, on August 20, 1926 in Lorain, OH. She graduated from Lorain High School, Class of 1944-B. Sylvia worked for Sears, retiring after 40 years, where she was a Credit Sales Manager. After retirement, she moved back to Lorain and was a member of St. John the Baptist, Roman Catholic Church where she served as Eucharistic Minister, Lector, Trustee and Secretary for the St. John Endowment Fund. Sylvia was active in the Altar and Rosary Society, President of Legion of Mary, active in Parish activities, and she volunteered with Sprenger and Community Health Partner’s providing spiritual care. She enjoyed reading, traveling in the U.S. and abroad and being with her family. Her favorite activity was the casino trips she enjoyed with her good friends.  

Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, Dominic and Mary Sestili; siblings, Paul “Pat” Sestili, Michael (Millie) Poli, Laura (August Guerrieri and Jim Pompei) Pompei, Helen (Mike) Katrinchak, Magdalene (Joseph) Dougherty, Teresa (Ben) Johns, Rose (Sam) Marotta, and Vera (Steve) Hodovan.

She is survived by many loving nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Beatrice Johns.

Sylvia’s family will receive family and friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 2150 Broadway, Lorain, OH on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 from 5:00 PM until the time of closing prayers at 7:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St Frances Xavier Cabrini Roman Catholic Parish, 2143 Homewood Dr., Lorain, OH on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at 10:00 AM with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain, Fr. Neil Walters, Pastor, officiating (all meet at Church on Thursday). Memorial donations may be made in Sylvia’s loving memory to St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Endowment fund or a charity of your choice.
