Virginia Armelie
Virginia “Vern” (nee Skolnicki) Armelie, 94, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2021 at Avon Oaks Nursing Home in Avon, Ohio.
She was born on April 22, 1926 in Lorain, Ohio where she was a lifelong resident. Virginia graduated from Lorain High School, Class of 1944. Growing up, she enjoyed and excelled at tennis and ice skating. Vern worked many years at one of Lorain’s finest Pizzerias. She was an excellent cook and made some of the best stuffed cabbage in the world. Vern was a member of St. Peter Parish in Lorain. She was a loving wife and mother and she cherished and loved passing time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Dominic (Nancy) Armelie; sister, Rose Dellisanti; son-in-law, Ronald Sibbing; grandsons, Mark (Lisa), Dr. Aaron, Michael (Amy), and Dominic (Kate) Armelie; grandsons, Philip, Luke, Michael, and Jack Armelie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Stella Skolnicki; beloved husband, Phillip L. Armelie infant son, Philip; daughter, Phyllis Sibbing; sister, Helen Szalay; and brothers, Joseph, Walter, Edward, Bruno “Bumpy”, and John (Yash) Skolnicki.
Private interment services will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain, OH.
