January 23, 1944 ~ June 26, 2017 (age 73) 73 Years OldLorain - Juan "Johnny" Gonzalez, 73, passed away on Monday, June 26, 2017 at his home in Lorain, Ohio with his loving family by his side.
He was born on January 23, 1944 in San Sebastián, Puerto Rico.
Johnny graduated from Domingo Aponte Collazo High School and attended College in Puerto Rico. Arriving in the United States in 1967, he was employed by the Ford Motor Company in Lorain, OH and was a Member of the UAW Local 425. His favorite pastimes were boxing and martial arts. Juan had a passion for Latin music and enjoyed playing his guitar, the Requinto. He was lead guitarist of various musical groups including Los Embajadores, Los Conquistadores, Los Tres Sonidos and in his early days he was the lead singer, who many compared to the late Johnny Albino of El Trio San Juan. He was an avid collector of Spanish music albums and enjoyed studying and discussing Bible topics.
Beloved husband of 45 years of marriage to Carmen Celia (nee' Rivera) of Lorain. Dear father of Edwin of Lorain and Javier of Columbus. Brother to William (Reina), Manuel, and Gladys Gonzalez.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Juana Gonzalez; and siblings, Pedro, Efrain, Francisco, Luis Gonzalez and Irma Iris.
The family will receive friends and family at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2150 Broadway, Lorain, OH, (440) 244-1961, on Saturday, July 1, 2017 from 9 AM until the time of funeral service at 11 AM, Charlie Palmer, officiating. Private Christian entombment services will be held at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Avon, OH at a later date.
